Meet Liviu Onofrei, Concertmaster

Liviu Dmitri Onofrei, a classical violinist born in Iasi, Romania, began to play the violin at the age of 4 and was educated in the music schools and graduated from the Mu¬sic Academy “Chiprian Porumbescu” in Bucharest. He was the Concert Master of The Mihail Jora Symphonic Orchestra in Bacau, Romania for more than 25 years. He enjoyed extensive travel on solo and concert tours throughout Eu¬rope, the USA and Canada, performing violin concerts by Vivaldi, Beethoven, J. S. Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn and Brahms.

Besides his contribution within the symphony orchestra, Liviu has enjoyed a rich independent career as a violinist. He played in the famous Montecatini, Italy – Terme Resort for some 16 years, Venice and many other cities through¬out Italy, which he has considered his second homeland.

In 2008, Liviu emigrated to Orlando, Florida, where he lives with his wife Mary and is Concert Master with The Gainesville Orchestra, The Villages Philhar¬monic, and The Space Coast Symphony. He plays with The Orlando Philhar¬monic, The Brevard Symphony, The Florida Lakes Symphony, The Charleston Symphony, The Alabama Symphony, and The Lake Placid Chamber Orchestra among others. Liviu has enjoyed playing with Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Mathis, Regis Philbin, The Irish Tenors, and touring companies of West Side Story, South Pacific, and many more.

In regards to his style, Liviu combines strength with delicacy and expression, a mature technique fueled by his passion for music and the violin.
