THE GAINESVILLE ORCHESTRA YOUTH CONCERTO COMPETITION
Online Application with Video link and Online Application Fee is Due November 10, 2023​

​Piano, voice, and instrumental students throughout Florida are encouraged to compete.
Application form must include a link to a video audition. Video may be uploaded to YouTube, iCloud, Google Drive or a similar online service.

Divisions and Fees
Application Fees are $30 for Junior Division and $40 for Senior Division. 
​Junior Division (ages 10 to 15)
Senior Division (ages 16 to 21) 

What to Expect
Up to five Junior Division winners will be chosen and will be required to perform at the winners recital in March in Gainesville, Florida. A date will be announced. All Junior Division winners will receive $100 and a trophy.

One Senior Division winner will be chosen and must be available for a dress rehearsal on January 11, 2024 (7 p.m.) and perform their concerto live with The Gainesville Orchestra on January 12, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in Gainesville, Florida. The Senior Division winner will receive  $500 and a trophy. 

Competition Rules

1. Applicants must select a movement from a solo concerto or concert piece with orchestral accompaniment from the standard published repertoire.  Simplified arrangements are not allowed.  Orchestral accompaniment parts must be readily available.
2. No cuts may be made to the solo part; however, cuts are allowed to the appropriate sections. 
3. All auditions must be accompanied by a piano reduction of the orchestral score.
4. Memorization is required.
5. Soloists may audition on one instrument only.
6. Applicants must provide a judge’s copy of the score, with measures numbered.
7. Judges have complete discretion in naming or not naming winner(s).  The judges’ decisions are final.
8. Applicants are responsible for their own expenses (i.e. travel to performance/rehearsals, accommodations etc.).

10. ​The Senior winner must be available for a dress rehearsal on January 11, 2024 (7 p.m.) and concert on January 12, 2024 (7:30 p.m.) in Gainesville, Florida.
